Got questions?
We’ve got the answers to all the most commonly asked questions about WordPress design and development.
Depending on the functionality you need, a WordPress website can take anywhere from 6 weeks to design and build.
Of course, the more complex your project, the longer it’s likely to take.
The budget for your new WordPress website will depend on the level of functionality, design and editorial control you need.
There will be projects where WordPress isn’t the best choice of CMS. In these situations, we’ll be upfront and honest about the compromises you may need to make in order to stick with Wordpress, and also offer suggestions of alternative platforms that may suit you better.
Without smart development, WordPress websites can be slow. That’s because there’s so much code overhead to provide all the different options you may want to add to it.
But there are ways to dramatically speed up a WordPress website, including static site generation. This is something we implement on all our WordPress projects, decoupling the front and back ends of the website so that users are only loading the front end code, for a much faster browsing experience.
We highly recommend having maintenance for any WordPress website, as both the platform and its plugins have so many regular updates.
Also, as the most commonly used CMS on the planet, it’s also a big target for anyone looking to exploit security vulnerabilities, so it’s essential to keep everything up to date.
We provide proactive maintenance services for our WordPress clients, which means we run regular tests and updates to ensure everything is working perfectly and using the latest technology.
Because WordPress uses so many different plugins, it can often be more complex to keep up to date than simply turning on auto updates.
That’s because changes to one plugin may have a knock-on effect for something else on the website, causing more issues. That might even be something you don't realise is happening straight away, meaning your users could be having problems you don’t know about.
That’s why we offer proactive maintenance, so we can identify, update and fix any of these issues before they become a real problem.
One of the most common reasons we get requests for WordPress websites is down to familiarity. Many clients are used to how WordPress works, like the interface, and don’t want to learn a new system for their new website.
WordPress also has a lot of features right out of the box that can speed up development - so long as you don’t need anything unique. For example, basic ecommerce features, or an articles section.
However, when it comes to custom experiences, if your ecommerce process needs to work in a specific way, for example, the more rigid structure of WordPress may work against you. These are the situations where we may suggest an alternative that might suit you better.
If you already have a WordPress website - particularly if it’s not had any maintenance for a while, it’s highly likely that we can make improvements for you.
Let us know what your key issues are, whether that’s page speed, issues making edits, or needing new features - we can put together a plan to help.
