Smarter Editing with Gutenberg
The Gutenberg Block Editor transforms WordPress usability with full site editing capabilities. It offers creative freedom while ensuring every page aligns with your brand’s design system for a polished, professional look.
How does Gutenberg work?
WordPress introduced Gutenberg as a block editor, to make creating websites simpler, more flexible, and less reliant on code. It enables designers to create a design system, where they create different “blocks” which can then be used to make pages.
It provides a much more flexible experience for editors, as it’s a visual editing experience, and gives them the capability to design everything from posts to entire layouts in one seamless experience.
What makes Gutenberg so useful?
Gutenberg offers a range of benefits that make building and managing your website easier:
Full site editing
Move beyond fixed page templates and embrace the flexibility of block-based editing.
Flexibility
Design layouts that fit your content, not the other way around, giving you endless creative possibilities.
Scalability
Build new pages and easily expand your website as your business grows.
Lightweight and fast
Gutenberg is built for speed and performance, with no need for extra plugins slowing your website down.
Future-proof
Gutenberg is constantly evolving, with new features and improvements added regularly.
Gutenberg myths
Gutenberg has come a long way since its introduction, but there are still some common misconceptions about what it can and can’t do.
Basic editing options
While Gutenberg is incredibly powerful, it can feel limited out of the box. That’s why we use ACF Pro to create custom blocks with advanced editing options, giving you unparalleled flexibility.
Difficult to use
There’s no denying that Gutenberg has a learning curve, especially for those familiar with WordPress’ Classic Editor. However, once you grasp the basics, it unlocks endless possibilities. Investing the time to learn it pays off with a more flexible and modern editing experience.
Elementor/Bricks/Divi is a better page builder
While these tools are flexible, they often output bloated code that can slow your site down. The beauty of Gutenberg is that developers control the code output, ensuring your website stays lean and fast - just like a custom-built, non-Gutenberg site.
The flexibility of design systems
Design systems like Gutenberg offer a smarter, more adaptable alternative to rigid templates, giving you the tools to build and manage your website with ease. By focusing on reusable components instead of fixed layouts, they provide the flexibility to create pages that truly suit your content - now and in the future.
Freedom to build new pages
Instead of being boxed in by strict page templates, design systems let you mix and match components to design pages that meet your specific needs.
Easily update existing content
When your content changes, a design system makes it simple to adapt existing pages. Whether you’re updating layouts or adding new elements, the process is seamless and efficient.
Consistency without compromise
A design system ensures every page on your site is consistent with your design, even as you make updates or add new sections.
Prepared for the future
As your business grows, so will your website. We work with clients to evolve their design system over time, as their requirements change or new content types get added.

We’ve got the answers to all the most commonly asked questions about Gutenberg for WordPress.
In terms of design and development time, there’s very little difference between using a Gutenberg platform, and any other platform.
The time it takes mainly depends on the size of the website, and its complexity.
Costs for a Gutenberg website will largely depend on the functionality it needs, and the complexity of the design.
We may be able to recreate your website using Gutenberg, but it’s not something that can be done with a couple of clicks.
However, it can dramatically improve your ability to change and update your current website, so it may be a good option to consider if you love your design, but need more flexibility.
As far as modular design systems go, we strongly feel that Gutenberg is the superior choice. If you’re absolutely adamant that you want Elementor, we might not be the right agency for you.
It’s usually fairly easy to create new blocks for your design system as and when you need them. We find that clients rarely ask for new blocks however, as the range we provide within the initial design is usually very comprehensive.
We are always available to help clients manage and update their websites, whether that’s providing advice over email, jumping on a quick video call, or doing more in-depth training sessions.
Traditional templates are usually for entire pages, whereas a design system is created in sections, or “blocks”.
Traditional templates provide a minimal level of flexibility, but if you want to create new content on a page or a new page outside that rigid template, you may struggle.
A design system gives you a whole host of individual blocks that you can put together however you like and customise, while still staying within the parameters of the design itself.
Those blocks might include things like a 50/50 layout with text on one side and an image on the other, a centralised text section, cards, columns, tables, buttons, icon lists, headings and much, much more.
This gives you infinitely more freedom to choose the blocks and styles that are right for your content, rather than having to squeeze content into a template that might not really work for it.
