Last night we attended the inaugural warwick tweetup hosted by Lane’s and organised by many, but in particular Underwood Wines (and many others).
First of all we’d like to thank the many organisers and contributors who put on one of the finest networking events we have been to in a long time. It was a superb venue, which ran with just the right balance of structure and open networking.
Here are a few of the things we most enjoyed about the whole event:
The speed and quality of the organisation was superb…gate to plate in record time, which is just the way we like things to be
Whilst twitter was the medium connecting the people in the room, it was not a “nerd-fest” and talk was very much about local business, not about twitter
There are some really enthusiastic and talented business owners in Warwick (and surrounding areas). It was nice to be in a room with people who are excited about their businesses too. They tend to be the most interesting people to meet with
There were far too many people to meet in one event, which means another event will create even more new and interesting discussions and connections, as well as opportunities to build upon the ones made last night
Here are some of the people we enjoyed meeting:
Lane’s bar and restaurant – James and company know how to run a bang up establishment.
Liquid Blu – we very much like Gaz’s design work and he’s a really nice guy
Daisy Cupcakes – they make a damn fine cupcake (see pics below)
Karen Massey Photography – we really liked her work, but mostly we like that she found a reason to justify buying an Ipad (still trying to think of one ourselves…just give me time). We’ll be in touch regarding our slurred conversation
Underwood Wines – you looked nothing like we expected! Still…I’m sure a portly swagger and pink cheeks will catch up with you one day
Stiff White Card – we will definitely be giving your services a try
Guy from Surefyre - as funny in person as he is online
Choc Republic – free samples making their way around the office this morning…no leftovers!
Signs Express – straight talking people, and turns out they have already done some work for our neighbours!
Michelle from Ball and Byrne – sorry Michelle, I can’t help turning every conversation into a cheesy pitch
Tim Boswell, BBC – Note to self…speak to BBC peeps at the beginning of the evening (i.e. when you are at your most professional) in future.
Passion Apps – Only the second app designer I have met in Warwickshire so far, and it’s always a pleasure to meet another techie that isn’t afraid to carry an Iphone
We can’t wait to meet the rest of you at the next event (he said presumptiously).
Here are some snaps from the night:

greedy greedy...blame the person who made them

head shot

Aimee highlights the failing of the Iphone camera in tungsten light conditions. I bet her Blackberry would have done a better job.

hair-do shot

I'm sure the raffle was rigged, as was the Estaminet which may explain my head this morning

a novel way to remember who you spoke to
